About Sprout

Having begun life as a small seed in 2003, Sprout Construction and Architectural Services has been developed by husband and wife team Martin and Lainie Northey, and now encompasses a team of dedicated and experienced staff.  Sprout’s overarching objective is to tailor a bespoke and positive experience around our clients’ needs, which is made possible by our responsive and adaptive Design-and-Build process.
Paramount to meeting and exceeding our client’s expectations is our company ethos of respect, courtesy and consideration, which is put into practice by our professional and friendly team:

With three decades of experience in design and construction, Martin along with wife Lainie runs Sprout from the heart.  Martin brings the creative inspiration to Sprout’s design team and is committed to ensuring that his company delivers over and above his client’s expectations.  Outside of work Martin, Lainie and their son Ted can be found walking Sprout’s canine companion Mabel on their local beach.

Lainie is the brains behind Sprout’s Finance Department, controlling cash flow and accounts, and managing Sprout’s finance team.  Lainie has always dealt with the accounts of all their business adventures, starting Sprout in 2003 with husband Martin from their own recently renovated home, before moving to our current offices as the company grew.  Lainie loves spending time on the beach and in the yoga studio.

Joe is part of the senior management team at Sprout, overseeing every aspect of the construction process.   Joe began his professional life as a carpenter, before gaining his degree in Building Surveying, which led him to international roles in construction and project management before settling in Cornwall.  Joe loves exploring Cornwall’s roads by bike, or riding the waves on his surfboard.

Sarah has been part of the Sprout family since its early days and forms half of Sprout’s Client Liaison Team acting as a first point of contact for clients through the duration of the design and/or build process.  Being a busy mum of five Sarah is a very experienced multi tasker!  When she is not working, she can usually be found on the beach with her younger children playing in the sea.

An integral cog of the finance team, Cassie has a background in company accounts and legal secretarial roles.  Working closely with Lainie, Cassie manages Sprout’s day to day accounts, payroll and auditing.  Cassie lives in North Cornwall with her young family and loves paddle-boarding and days at the beach – whatever the weather!

Forming the other half of the Client Liaison Team, Charlotte works with Sarah to provide a vital link between the client and the build management team.  Charlotte has a background in law, languages and administration.  Outside of work, she is a mum of two and has a love of good coffee, pub gardens, live music and her sewing machine .

With 25 years experience in Health and Safety, Dave ensures that all sites are complying with current regulations and legislation. Dave’s interests outside of work include Rugby Union, which he played for 30 years, and being constantly disappointed by his football team Leeds United.  David is married and is currently exploring his new Cornish home, having moved down from Yorkshire in January 2016.

Josh is Sprout’s onsite Project Manager, coordinating our teams of subcontractors and communicating between site and office.  Josh was originally trained in joinery, and progressed to site foreman on both listed buildings and new build projects, whilst simultaneously gaining his degree in Sustainable Construction.  When he’s not at work, Josh can be found gig-rowing followed by a rehydrating drink or three at his local pub.

Polly is our super friendly and energetic receptionist at Sprout.  Your first contact when you visit our offices or call us, Polly will do her best to set you in the right direction.  In her first year with Sprout construction she also challenged herself to run the 2018 London Marathon.  She has raised over £1000 for Little Harbour Childrens Hospice in Cornwall and made us all very proud!

Mabels job is primarily to welcome all visitors to the office, generally this includes a thorough sniff test and a happy wag of the tail as you enter.  Her primary companions are Lainie and Martin although she will take snuggles wherever on offer.  Mabels spends her free time racing round the beach with her friends.  She loves to eat and spends a great deal of energy searching places and people for any hidden delights.
